Third (duh) album by English rock GOAT Led Zeppelin; originally released on October 5th of 1970. III showcases Zeppelin's progression form rock toward acoustic folk influences. Of course, this album still rips rock n roll, with tracks like Immigrant Song, but you see the folk influence come through Led Zeppelin more than ever before on tracks like Gallows Pole and That's the Way. By Zeppelin III, the band was cruising on massive commercial success, and coming off a blazing North American Tour. Robert Plant recommended the band take a retreat, and a handful of Zeppelin III was written on this retreat in a small, tranquil 18th century cabin on the Wales countryside without running water or electricity, which undoubtedly contributed toward the albums sound, and the folk acoustic influences.
